How many pounds of meat do you recommend for each bottle?
Our 16oz bottle is good for 6-7lbs of meat.
What kind of meat should I use? Can I use vegetables instead?
With Ja-listo! you can use any type of meat. We do recommend chuck roast/roll, also called diesmillo en troso. But any meat will work too!
You can totally use vegetables! We have many customers that make vegan birria (jack fruit, potatoes, etc.)
How much water should I add if I'm making birria?
We recommend adding equal parts water. So if you're using 16oz of Ja-listo! we recommend adding 16oz of water.
If you want to have more consome, add another 16oz of water. Don't add too much as it may dilute the flavor.
How do you recommend cooking birria with Ja-listo!
We have 3 main ways to cook Ja-listo!
Stove Top
Add meat, Ja-listo! and water to your pot. Set to high until you get a boil, bring to a low simmer and cover. Let cook for 2-3 hours or until meat is tender.
Slow Cooker
Add meat, Ja-listo! and water to your slow cooker. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or cook on high for 5-6 hours
Pressure Cooker/Instant Pot
Add meat, Ja-listo! and water to your pot. Set on high pressure for 1 hour. Naturally release pressure.
How long does Ja-listo! usually last? Do I need to refrigerate it?
Ja-listo! generally has a 12-18 month shelf life. All our bottles have a Best By date printed above the barcode. We recommend refrigerating after opening. Otherwise, it will be perfectly fine in a cool, dark environment.
Is Ja-listo! spicy?
We don't think so. We tried to make Ja-listo! as flavorful as possible so that everyone can enjoy it. But feel free to add some spice if you'd like :)
What else do I need to add to Ja-listo?
Nothing! Ja-listo! is designed to make your birria cooking experience as easy as possible. No need to add salt, chiles, peppers, nothing! Just add your meat, water and start cooking.
I just ordered, when should I expect to receive it?
Most orders ship within 24-48 hours of placing them (unless otherwise noted) and arrive within 3-5 business days. PayPal will send you a shipment confirmation with your tracking number. If you don't see it, email us, we'll find it for you!
Please keep in mind that things happen and orders may be delayed for reasons beyond our control. We will make all reasonable attempts to help you get your order.
